So it has been over a month now that I have lived in Guatemala. It’s been a pretty smooth transition, living here, all things considered, even the “amoeba infestation”. I have been daily studying and communicating in Spanish, enjoying the challenge of ordering at McDonalds, where an Egg McMuffin is now a “McMooooofan con Juevo”. No matter how many times you say McMuffin, they wont understand without mooing a little bit. It makes me laugh that I have to not only learn Spanish, but I have to mutilate my English fast food vocabulary that took going on 3 decades to cultivate. No one said the missionary life came without sacrifice right? Really though, the time here has already been profitable, though always progressing slower than I would prefer. It’s easy for me to talk to people and see the future of World Orphans and the strengthening of the church behind each one, even if it is just a small degree. Next week I will be in Nicaragua for 5 days visiting a project there and discussing the possibility of future development. Please take some time to browse a few of my favorite entries on my blog this past month.
And lastly, I hope to leave you with a smile by sharing with you 5 signs of a slow internet connection: 1. It’s faster to send a post card than an email 2. You open email at night before bed so when you wake up in the morning you can read them 3. You know the number of times your modem lights will blink before kicking you off (it’s six) 4. Getting “good speeds” causes you to forget to shower, eat, or other… 5. …your download time counts up.

Praying that you have a fast internet connection and a worshipful Christmas - Blessings to you
